newg creates a new PRECS group. A PRECS group contains one or more files in a single directory. If newgroup is specified, a directory with that name is created and used for the new group. If no group name is specified, the current directory is used as the new group and its groupname is derived from already existing groups in the product. If no group name is specified and a group already exists in the current directory, no action will be taken. If a group name is specified but the directory already exists, an error message will be printed. At this point, enter the directory to be added to the product and use newg.
- -pVDB_path
- uses VDB_path as the directory to store the PRECS files for the new group. If the directory does not exist, it is created. If this option is not specified, a directory with the name of the new group is created in the VDB directory for the group in which the new group is to be created.
The exit status is zero if and only if all operations were successful. Authors: Robert Hill and Matthew Wallace $Id: precs/docs:newg.1 1.2 $
